Denial, it's not just a river in Egypt
Ok, I've seen my primary care physician twice, my neurologist twice and a neurosurgeon for a consult. Even that's not enough to crack the feeling that this Parkinson's thing is a little misunderstanding. Maybe the tremor is just too much coffee, the stumbling just inattention. When it comes to denial, you're talking to a professional here.
I still think John Boehner is going to come to the table with a fair tax proposal. I think Bank of America will waive a fee or two for me since I've been a customer since before dirt. I think GE will understand that an effective tax rate of zero is too low and Exxon will graciously decline its subsidies for the good of the economy.
I think everyone believes in Matthew 25:35-45.
I think the Red Sox will win the World Series...ok, that one worked out, and Roger Clemens will answer for his actions (playing for the Yankees, not necessarily his perjury.)
Since there's no definitive test for Parkinson's, they usually diagnose it by eliminating other possibilities (hence the consult with the neurosurgeon.) Also, if it responds to Parkinson's meds, it's likely Parkinson's. I know, I know it's a chicken-egg thing. So, in my infinite wisdom I decided to skip the meds for a couple of days to prove it was just a little misdiagnosis. Darned if by day two the tremor wasn't back.
Ok, so it's Parkinson's. I won't mess with my meds any more but I can't say I won't doubt it again. It's a journey after all, but I think I'm a little further down the road now.
Oh, but I do think we can settle our differences with common sense and fair play.
Call me Cleopatra.

Oh darn. Now I have to find my Bible...oh wait...there's always Google!
Why didn't I remember that verse? Used it all the time in our freedom from hunger fundraising days.
Please please don't get off those meds again. Look what happened to me this summer when I stumbled!
And by the way, I talked to my dentist the other day on how to tuck and roll when falling. He's a former wrestler and told me it takes practice. He got on his knees and demonstrated it.
So that's something to look into.
